Albert,

You must have missed the number:

First Quarter Earnings Excluding Acquisition-Related Costs(1) $0.16 Per Share

That is the number based on what the analyst's report to First Call as their estimates.

As much as you would like to change the rules after the game has been played, you need to accept reality.

GAAP is not the standard by which companies are judged, not Intel or AMD.

John

Yikes! Revenue down sharply, but cost of sales up 10%. Not good.

Neil.

albert:

Looks like $0.07 eps to me, $0.01 lower than what CSCO ( $17) warned for their nect quarter...Guess the market was expecting red in Q1 and is elated that it has been deferred to Q2...

Also, Net Income of $485 million, with revenues and margins down again in Q2, is going to disappear real fast...My outlook for INTC hasn't altered one bit in face of AH machinations...INTC is looking at losses beginning in Q2 and perhaps protracted through Q3 and Q4, imo!!! Just don't see the AH party lasting through the week, if even through tomorrow...

Is there one positive item included in the report that suggests convincingly that INTC is not looking at red for the duration of the year???

Albert, Re: Intel Report

I thought the apparent tax rate was interesting... are they planning ahead to smooth out over the year or is this possibly the effect of credits from the "options" game?

EDIT: Last year was this the QTR that Intel received the bonus from the IRS (once the IRS finally figured out what was what)?
