Tick tock is right. Guess how long running NDD took. Over eight hours. All day.

I followed tc's step by step instructions from here:

Message 15677067

All went just as expected, it was really easy, but I guess I made a wrong choice when the part came about "navigating choices." The choice was given of running NDD in the "Normal" mode, or in the "Thorough" one.

Assuming that "thorough" was better than "normal" must be why it ran all day.

At the end, it said "There were no problems detected on Drive C."

I removed the WinMe boot floppy disk and then did ctrl alt del to restart. There were no instructions about when to take it out and I forgot to ask that, but I figured it had served its purpose and what I wanted now was to find out whether I could go back to my normal desktop... Start... Programs... Accessories... System Tools... Defrag.

So I tried to defrag, and it said...

"Locked by a disk utility."

The horror.
