Spot gold had a brief spike up, nothing too dramatic...but it'll bear watching over the days to come. The clownbuck is rallying hard...MBI is DOWN, though, I wouldn't be surprised if a default was whacking them hard (they "insure" bonds so they get a higher rating than they really deserve).

The Euros aren't playing along....this is a major step, IMO, in legitimizing that currency as a major threat to the dollar's dominance.....(still problems, but they're on the road)...

BTW- Read an interesting article in the Economist talking about how all the Russian gangsters switching D-marks to dollars...not wanting to get caught out in the D-mark/Euro switch...
