cash, bonds and mining stocks...rather the mining stocks than the metals themselves, as in a deflation the purchasing power of the metals rises, but their prices tend to be stable. e.g. HM increased ten-fold from '29 - '35, with the gold price fixed. however, their input costs fell dramatically, leading to a big improvement in profit margins.

I recall the big "deflation" scare of 18 mos ago or so.. everyone was posting about it, but it never happened, not by a long shot.
