<If INTC can jump 25% on those dismal results, imagine what AMD might be capable of doing when they post decent results...>

Niceguy,

Aren't you just a little worried by TI's guidance that this is the steepest downturn they have ever seen and that they don't see it getting better any time soon? You keep saying how Intel's rise is unsustainable, what about the industry as a whole. Maybe this is it and we have bottomed and it's slowly up from here but isn't it also possible that this is just an unsustainable rally based on the hope that it is such a bottom?

In response to your question above... is it not possible that everyone is taking the reaction to Intel's news as such a positive that everyone who wants AMD is jumping in today in anticipation of another pop in the stock tomorrow? I am more than a little concerned as to whether anticipation of AMD's guidance has already been factored in to todays 20% jump. These aren't halcyonn days anymore, 20% is a lot.

If all the possible good news such as Intel's claims of a stabilizing market and the fed lowering interest rates are factored in then what is left? Maybe AMD will make some blockbuster announcement such as an OEM design win or product announcement or something, or maybe I am just plain wrong which is more than possible (maybe even probable) :) but I sure wouldn't be unabashedly buying right now. In fact I am considering buying some puts or selling a small portion of my position.

Call me crazy, :)

Niceguy, Re : "If INTC can jump 25% on those dismal results, imagine what AMD might be capable of doing when they post decent results"

It appears like you are not learning very much from your mistakes. I hope you did not put too much on Intel puts last week. You seem to repeatedly surprised by markets (illogical) reaction. A lot of stock movement is tied with what the expectations and future forecasts are.

"yes I'm in and I took a fair flyer on Apr. 30 calls this AM as well."

I would be careful if I were you and not bet the farm on AMD april 30 calls. Too risky IMHO.

good luck to you.

Maui.
