Rape is the murder of anothers soul. Rape is one of the most depraved acts of violence." I tend to agree. But my own beliefs with regards to this were at one time severely assaulted. I picked up a young lady while who was hitchhiking. She stated that she was 16 years old and running away from home because her mother had filed for legal adoption of her daughter. I offered to let her stay with me until she was ready to go back home. Several weeks later, she called home. She had me speak to her mother, who stated that she had no problems with the girl staying with me and I could do whatever I wanted with her. She also informed me that the girl was actually 14 years old. Two of my friends, who did not know each other, told me quite similar stories. According to them, the sire of this young lady's daughter was her mother's boyfriend. He was serving time in prison for statutory rape, and when her mother intercepted mail in which young lady and "rapist" were discussing getting married and raising their daughter together, the young lady's mother filed for legal adoption of the infant to prevent this from happening. When the young lady found out about this, she told her mother that if her mother was going to have the father of the infant serving time in prison for satutory rape, she might as well file charges against all the mother's boyfriends, because this young lady had had sex with every one of them. At this point the young lady's mother threw her out. Not only did both of these friends of mine tell this same story, they both insisted that the young lady was interested in me sexually, but I would have to rape her because there was no way that she would cooperate. In fact, both of them claimed that the reason she would not have cooperated was that she was in love with me. Curiously, with regards to first hand information, this young lady would not even tell me her name. And, her mother would not tell me her name either. This, in spite of the fact that both of them were well aware of the fact that I could have found out the young lady's name without any problem. In fact, when I called this point to the young lady's attention, she responded, "But you won't." and when I asked why I wouldn't she replied, "Because I don't want you to." Eventually, I ended up taking the young lady back home, well at least to her home town. She did not want me taking her all the way home because she did not want me to know where she lived. Later, I got involved with a woman slightly older than I was. Eventually, she started telling me about how she was raped when she was 13, and how this led to problems later in her life. When I told her about the young lady who had been staying with me, her reaction was surprising and to me, very abusive. This woman screamed at me that it was absolutely unforgivable that I had not raped the young lady. She said with absolute conviction that the young lady had been violently raped by her mother's boyfriend and had convinced herself that she had not been raped by getting her rapist to commit first to pledging his love for their daughter then manipulating this to a pledge of love for her. This woman then said that the only way I could have broken through this young lady's barriers was through raping her, and that by not doing so I had not only condemned the young lady to a lifetime of abuse, but her daughter as well. I realize that this woman had no way of knowing the truth. But I am also convinced she was projecting, and the reason she was so angry was that she believed that, had she and I met after her own rape, that I could have rescued her from her abusive life, but only if I had the initiative to rape her. Her anger was because I was basically telling her that I would not have taken this initiative. What is rape? Is it indeed possible to rape a woman for her own good? I do not have the answers. Do you?
