>>before equity-related non-cash compensation charges<<

read, transfer of wealth from barefoot, crayon carrying shareholders.

i wonder if this stock compensation is determined by # of shares or a straight dollar value. if the latter then someone is making a killing and diluting the heck out of akam.

va linux was great at fleecing their shareholders like this...

After the market closed, Cambridge, Mass.-based Akamai said
it posted a normalized net loss of $52.5 million, or 53 cents a
share,

Analysts, on average, were looking for Akamai to post a net
loss of 55 cents a share, according to research firm Thomson
Financial/First Call.

James,

It is a new world. You have to know how to read these reports. Look they beat expectations and they actually did say how much they really lost<VVBG>

Have you ever seen a release from Amazon that read like this?

"- Akamai Technologies Inc.
on Wednesday reported a first-quarter operating loss
of $2.2 billion mostly due to a non-cash impairment charge as
it works to overcome slowing demand for its services that speed
the delivery of Internet Web pages."

I believe they may fold once they have lost a trillion dollars<G>

Seriously, I am staying long. Their stuff works. Just no one wants to buy it:-)

James,

AKAM actually is doing just fine in their space. This is a serious statement.
