ryad,

I like QCOM & NEWP long term. Both have outstanding potential for sustained earnings growth. Both have an excellent chance of seeing near term earnings growth continue & their P/E's could expand, ergo their stock price could increase substantially. QCOM could benefit from confirmations of contracts in China or a switch over to CDMA of one or more TDMA/GSM operators. QCOM's forward guidance in their CC could make a difference too.

However, I am not so sure about the economy near term. I don't think the NAZ is going straight up from here either, regardless of the economy. Me thinks there will be volatility but the market could trend upward. Any more shocks could send the markets spiraling down too (look at gas prices - MSFT or another bell weather stock misses or gives bad forward guidance - China/US spy plane incident gets dicey, etc.)

Nothing is certain. I doubt that many stocks will double from current prices in the next month or two though. Too much overhead resistance for that, not to mention uncertainty about the health of the overall economy.

If you're LTB&H, buy top flight companies in here. If you aren't, play the volatility or sit on the side lines I guess.

How's that for playing both sides of the fence?
