Like I said, I am not trying to convince anybody of God's existence. You either hold such a belief or you don't. Arguing or debating has never changed that for anybody, as far as I know.

"we are *meant* to fail, and know unhappiness?" I did not say this and don't agree with it, but I am happy to comment on it. We are tested in many ways on a daily basis. There are all kinds of references to how testy life can be and is. Most people will concede that when we deal with difficulties in life and work through them, we are better people for it down the road. Make of that whatever you want.

I don't agree with any of the following:
"Or, if you don't believe that all created beings do is in accordance with the absolute will of their perfect creator, then therefore even a perfect God *needs* to create something - even if in so doing it passes the limits of its own perfection by creating something imperfect..."

Humans have free will and nobody, religious or otherwise, contests this. I don't agree that God "needs" to create something imperfect. I figure creation is perfect and it is no reflection of a need God possesses. There is a great deal going on that is unknown to me and plenty that is simply unknowable in my current limited state. As we can only know an infintessimally small aspect of creation, it doesn't seem logical to declare that it is imperfect.

"I think I've used this argument against the worship of such a deity... since if true, worship is by definition pointless since we are only doing what is designed, and our very belief (or lack of) is inarguable. Or, what would a perfect God want with an imperfect creation anyhow? hmm, angels on a pin time <g>"

Argue as you feel fit. I have no debate except on logical points. For example you again insist that God is wanting something which presumes incompleteness. This is illogical given the definition of Omnipotence. The rest is my belief and testimony of what's happening with me; but, in no way do I consider my faith a convincing arguement for anything. Here is an analogy for the reason why I worship:

When you are cold and you go near the fire you are warmed by it. The nearer you go the more it effects you. It has value for you and you grow to appreciate the things involved there in. If, however, you don't feel the cold or you have never been warmed by a fire you may not percieve any benefit in it. As you are walking through your day and you notice a camp fire that is burning off in a distance...you would probably ignor it or even trot on over and attempt to extinguish it as it seems to you to be useless, annoying, or even dangerous.

Analogies are only close proximities, so let me attempt to explain myself here. I feel the need for compassion, mercy, forgiveness, kindness etc in my life. Some times I have a bad day and I don't feel so kind, etc. My worship always causes these ideals to have a greater impact on me in positive ways. There have been many times when I am aware of the fire/worship of God off in a distance; yet, I go on about my business fairly ignoring it...I've noticed that I am not as kind etc, during these periods. Anyway, I find benefit in worshipping according to my beliefs but that is me.
