<<Still buy ally?>>
I have no choice but to use old rules that worked for me. Get something going up, and buy more. Sell those that disappoint.
Buying back into the market in past month(s) then I started with Ally at $6 which was going up . Bought more at 9, at 12, at 14, at 18 at 19, and smaller amt today at~ $22 .
Also since I had long ago sold most of dell at $26, have been waiting for it to move. So am now back in at$24, at $25, and at lastly at 25.5
This puts me at 48% Dell, up+ 17% (and some Jan calls)
25% Ally at + 42 %
5% Plcm at + 14%
and 5 % NVR at +0
The rest includes Gold, Igt, Arm, Aer, Igt and Qcom, etc
And sold many losers
Some would say put in stops. And I would have lost the Ally at $9, and lost the Dell at $20
Some would say sell the winners, and I would have sold Ally at $12 and Dell at $28.Which would leave me
with junk like the Gold and more painful decisions on what to buy next
I do not worry about being 1/2 in Dell but may never be 97% pure Dell head again (unless she splits)haha
Now I just bgt Plcm (on old favorite) two days ago, and its up 15% so I have orders in at $17 and $20 tomorrow.
OK so I have a mixture with some dividend payers, and experience tells me I can hold this amount of Dell
forever if nescessary. Thus few concerns over their next report in May.
Buying Plcm, Ally, some Dell around $30 if they continue up.
This is not my "plan", or even desire, to be so much into 3 stocks. But I spent over two years wasting money, looking for something, anything, that would outperform Dell. What I have is what the market tells me to own thru its performance..
May try some more Qcom, and new stuff
Not buying more of those I hold that have done little yet.
Summary
I am not trying to hit a home run here, just aiming to put more stability in portfolio. Becauuuuuuuuse,
when tough times come long, I just can't seem to resist selling at a loss.(sniff)> I do use limit stops at times, tho, on stocks new to me, or on those that don't perform well. Use mental stops on the gainers.
