Austin was a hoppin' place, as I remember it, and that was before most of the tech explosion. The traffic was a real challenge, though. I'm not used to 80 mph in the right-hand lane.
When I was in Kansas City, we did 80 in the left-hand lane and allowed people to travel the speed limit in the right-hand lane. Different culture, I guess.
Thanks for the Austin info. It troubled me a bit to see companies like VIGN shredded, so I was curious about the old-line sector down there, how well it's holding up. The fact the Chamber was really rooting for AMD told me all was not well.
Tech will be back. We really need a new driver for demand, though. New applications that people are willing to PAY for.
The recent advances at Scandia in chip making have me looking at the semi-equips (not AMAT, but the NVLS kind, as chip makers retool).
That's not a buy reco, either, just thinking out loud about early cyclicals.
Again, thanks for the info. Nice to chat with someone who's civilized, as most everyone on this thread is.
