We have two houses to sell.
Just sold house number one (the rental)...buyer cheated us via V.A. loan, guess we didn't really understand...still came out better than if we'd used a broker (fsbo).
Closed today.
Next we have to fix up the house we live in and put it up for sale: doing it for the summer "change homes" season...mortgage rates are low, sellers market here in Southern Cal, still. This house is more expensive so may be a little harder to sell...the other one was in the low $200,000 range which is getting almost impossible to find in the San Diego area.
We will try this one for sale by owner too but will refuse V.A. loan people (though I think it's too expensive to get a V.A. loan person asking anyway).
If we can get our price it will pay for the house we build so we can live on love and rice until we get a business going or the portfolio comes back to ok-to-take-some-out proportions again.

I live in the sticks.
Middle of nowhere.
We don't know nothin' 'bout them e-commerce interfaces.
Don't know nothin' 'bout local wireless networks.
Don't know nothin' 'bout middleware.
Don't know nothin' 'bout tunable lasers.
Remember Apollo 13?
How they lost power? Went into a low orbit around the moon as a slingshot to try to get back to Earth? Had to shut down all non-essential systems? Remember when the commentators said that the astronauts likely would not be unable to navigate? That the outlook at Mission Control was grim?
Remember when they went to battery power? And that the batteries were not designed for that? That, according to government specs, the batteries could not bring our astronauts home?
Remember that?
And out here, in the sticks, we said, "Yeah, they will. It'll work."
Man, we were sh*tting bricks. Sent a Lear jet load of engineers to Houston. Had to tell them, over and over, that those batteries weren't made according to government specs.
They're better than that.
And that we would bring those guys home.
That's what we do here. Or, at least, that's what happens at our largest employer.

Don't know nothin' 'bout Web servers....

Bear lesson No 1.
Do not walk in the tracks of other bears..
Lessen 2. Do not short only the 4-letter tech stocks.
