I've never understood why people don't learn from their mistakes.

If I had a parrot that kept saying "the market is going up", some people might have thought he was a genius in '98. If he kept repeating that during the fall over the last year, people would learn. So, what's the difference between Abbey and my parrot?

I saw one guy on CNBC a few weeks ago saying that he 'missed the downturn' but that he was sure the market had reached its bottom and was headed higher. As if missing the existence of one of the biggest bubbles in history is a small oversight.

But what do I know, I started shorting too early in '98 and I needed the bear run last year to cover those losses.
