12:49 ET Avici Systems (AVCI) 15.10 +0.80: -- Update -- Stock gains momentum after CEO interview on CNBC, but upside might be limited by a somewhat negative Light Reading article that highlight company's burn rate and customer concentration (85% of revenues from T, ENE, and Q).




12:44 ET Sector Watch: Storage : Nasdaq rebounds to highs of the session and Dow makes run after brokerage firms come to defense of Goldman Sachs. Positive investor/analyst reaction to EMC (EMC 40.53 +3.87) qtr has ignited move across the storage sector. Best performer in space today is McDATA (MCDT 30.10 +6.90), which has advanced almost 30% (see 09:44 comment). Also running are JNIC (+20%), EMLX (+14%), BRCD (+10%), QLGC (+8%).




12:32 ET Avici Systems (AVCI) 15.03 +0.73 (+5.1%) : -- Technical -- Advanced has been stymied near its 50 day simple ma (15.07 today) for the last two sessions. Limited consolidation near this barrier raises probability that it is a temporary pause. Next resistances are at 16.25/17.06 with a stronger ceiling at 18.12/18.50. Short term support near 14.50/14.25 with critical floor at 13.73.




12:32 ET Corvis (CORV) 9.50 +0.96: -- Update -- Trading steadily higher throughout the session, benefits from strong Broadwing (BRW) earnings reports this morning. Broadwing is one of only 3 customers for CORV (along with Q and WCG).
