Microsoft beats earnings, revenue target
--4:22pm - By Mike Tarsala
Microsoft (MSFT) beat Wall Street's earnings estimates, reporting net income of $2.45 billion, or 44 cents a share, topping its 42-cent First Call target. Microsoft's revenue was $6.46 billion, up 14 percent from the year-ago period, and better than the 9 percent gain Wall Street analysts predicted. The company reports that all businesses did "a little better than expected." Shares rose $2.59 to close at $68.02 in regular Nasdaq trading.
