American,

Cheney had better take care of his health, because Bush is next in line for the Presidency.

Plan Eases Rules of Wildlife Protection

By Michael Coleman and Tania Soussan
Journal Staff Writers
The Bush administration wants more leeway for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to decide how and when to protect America's rarest plants and animals — a move prompting protests from some environmentalists.

Environmentalists charged that lifting the deadlines would make it impossible for citizens to make sure the Fish and Wildlife Service does its job. Violations of the deadlines often are the key element of lawsuits against the agency.
"It's very clear that in the absence of citizen oversight, virtually no species will ever get on the endangered species list," said Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson.
In the last 10 years, 92 percent of federal endangered species listings were the result of citizen petitions or lawsuits, Suckling said.

More crapola from UnAmerican Spirit:

"the GOP is skilled at making fun of it and making it seem un-American and effeminate. Nothing should be further from the truth. I'm always amazed when American males seem to think pollution is macho and cool.

Environmentalism need to be tempered with economic reality. That is the Republican position. And to say that excessive environmental regulation doesn't cost jobs files in the face of reality. last thing we need in a flagging economy is MORE gov't regulation of ANY kind.
