Back-up one year to sales of 7.3 bil, earnings 19 cents, net 7.2% 1. Assume the worst, that despite a 34 % increase in shipments,. the extra 14,000 people produced no increase in value of products shipped and revenues were flat. Result Dell earns 19 cents. Beats by 2. 2. Assume Dell revenues increase about 31% with same margins, Dell earns 24.89 cents To back that down to 17 cents, would require net margin to decrease from 7.2% to 4.89% while Dell is moving into higher markup areas?. Seems unlikely Under-estimate and over-achieve, where have I heard that before?. You know Sig...Finding you and others on this thread years ago I immediately realized I could cheat off you folks and make some money...Afterall, you had a stellar career as an engineer and I barely made it out of school.. :o) But, what continues to amaze me is the lack of knowledge that these paid analysts use when determining the direction of this company...Why was this thread so filled with enthusiasm and participants for so long? It wasn't just because this company made folks a ton of money...If you were here you knew DELL was something special...Special because the words of management came true...Sure mistakes have occurred but the vision and the long term focus of this corporation hasn't changed...Pure and simple they set forth goals to one day own the world wide hardware business...Many would proclaim along the way that "it will be difficult, this is not just about selling boxes"...Well, many quarters later DELL is #1 world wide in PC's and fast growing in every segment of their business...Wherevever this model of efficiency decides to take the investor they will conquer...That RELATIONSHIP that Michael started so long ago will continue to spread...It is his word and the word of everyone that works for DELL...IMO it's unstoppable...This is why I dream and why I follow that dream...As long as he keeps that word to the consumer...It's over for the others...He's 36 years old...And, not exactly looking forward to that porch seat...The management he's assembled is in the opinion of OT "the greatest team of all time"...This leadership and guidance of his vision will make the long term investor very rich...Very rich and very proud...Proud to have believed in what Michael has always promised...He's a man of his word...And, I admire that above all... Michael, congratulations to everyone at DELL...I know it's been a long term goal of those that have worked for you...The relationships you've created have only just begun... "A million old soldiers will fade away, but, the dream goes on forever" TR... Best, Kemble
