I won't debate with you. Suffice to say that an acquaintance of mine on the negotiating committee said to me "anything can happen." There is A LOT of incentive on both sides to make a deal. The writers/actors will not offer "concessions" -- any offer with rollbacks will cause a strike. Will the Guilds get everything they want? Nah. But one could easily argue that the pressure is also on the Wall Street traded firms like Disney, AOL, etc. not only not to offer too much. . . but not to offer too little. A strike benefits no one, though amazingly enough, a few studios maintain that a six month strike would actually help their books a lot (making one wonder just how they run their business). I don't wanna debate you here on this thread, and I don't wanna strike. (And when I say that I don't want one, I am talking personally, as I will be voting for or against any studio offered deal.) But again, my point is that using a strike or not as a guarantee of bad consumer issues doesn't wash with me yet. Actually, if there are NO strikes, I know a lot of people who have saved cash and will spend spend spend. Go figure. the freep
