I've heard this crap on this board for 4+ years. The dollar has held up nicely vs the other so-called powerhouse currencies. imo, there is more to the strength of a currency than econ 101, 102 & 401 -g-

doesn't Argentina actually use the dollar as official currency?

I was in Argentina in November, 1 Argentine Peso = 1 US dollar, you can use either at almost all shops there (occasionally getting change in mixed currencies), and the ATMs even ask you whether you want your money in Pesos or dollars. Technically, the US $ is not "official" but for practical purposes, it is. Of course, if they do devalue the Peso, then all bets are off.
