note: today something happened that i alluded to in my dollar post yesterday...O'Neill officially "reaffirmed" the "strong dollar policy" (i still don't know what that is actually supposed to be), and the dollar did NOT go up on it.

in a way it's true that 'we're all in this together', as economic interdependence has grown along with world trade. but that doesn't mean that economic cycle asynchronicity between the major currency areas has become impossible. my guess is that these comments are part of the 'pressure the ECB' propaganda campaign...no-one seems willing to tackle the imbalances that need to be tackled, instead it's 'let's muddle on' since the dollar hegemony has been VERY convenient.
