One of the smartest technicians I've ever met was a flight attendant. Remembe Pan Am? The "basic" flight attendant usually spoke 3 languages, all had a degree and many had advanced degrees. The average educational level serving trays and being on standby to save people in the event of an accident was far higher than the cockpit and much higher than those in the seats.
