General Magic Appoints Mark Strumwasser
to Vice President of Sales and Market
Development

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2001--General Magic, Inc. (Nasdaq:GMGC - news),
a pioneer in voice application software and services, today announced the appointment of Mark
Strumwasser to vice president of sales and market development. Strumwasser brings more than 16 years
of experience in high growth sales, business development and marketing in leading high technology
companies. In his new role at General Magic, Strumwasser will focus on building customer, channel and
partner momentum to proliferate the rapid adoption of General Magic's products and supporting services
across the globe.

Prior to General Magic, Strumwasser was the vice president of business development and sales at One
Voice Technologies, an advanced voice recognition software company focused on developing and
delivering voice solutions for the wireless, telematics, TV/Internet appliance and PC markets. During his
tenure at One Voice, Strumwasser developed and implemented a new strategic sales business plan to
penetrate Fortune 1000 companies, designed and implemented the company's e-commerce and content
partner strategies, and developed and negotiated strategic partnerships and customer relationships with
brand corporations such as Autobytel, Britannica, FTD, IBM, Lycos, Monster.com, Naviant, Philips,
Samsonite, Sprint, Texas Instruments, Time Warner and Wingcast.

Prior to One Voice, Strumwasser was director of sales at Creative Labs, Inc., a worldwide leader in digital
entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet, including the Sound Blaster line of
sound cards. There, he increased distribution sales from $85 million to over $600 million.


Earlier in his career, Strumwasser was the national distribution sales manager for Central Point Software,
Inc. (later acquired by Symantec Corporation), and held sales management positions at NEC
Technologies, Inc., and ComputerLand.

Strumwasser holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from the
California State University Northridge.
