Republicans love to talk about deficit reduction. Reagan was the biggest deficit reduction talker in history, but his actions spoke much louder than his words.

Same is true for Gingrich. Reps can't keep their hands out of the "tax cuts for the wealthy" pie, and they get burned every time.

Only President Clinton's veto stands in the way of both a tax cut and a balanced budget. If Bob Dole eventually decides to call for a big cut in the federal income tax, he can do so confident that it is the fiscally responsible thing to do.
