I do not propose wanton military spending, nor do I disapprove of all social spending. But at the time, there was an overextension of forces, a problem with re- signing veterans, and a readiness crisis. Plus, I agree with the pursuit of SDI.........

I agree that taxes should be kept as low as possible. Tax cuts must be balanced with spending cuts...
