Michael,

The Democrats have already caved from their campaign rhetoric and will give him at least a 1 trillion dollar tax cut

I have always felt that the Democratic Congress is a bunch of feeble minded morons.

the tone in Washington has been changed quite dramatically from one of pointing fingers of blame

The Republican masters of blame and denial have the White House back. Why would they continue their campaign of endless whining?

Look for a big "concession" that will result in a compromise between the Dem's $1.2 trillion and the original $1.6 trillion. It will be just enough compromise for the Red Press and idiots like Chris Mathews to prattle on about "Bush's Big Loss".

But Bush doesn't care about that, because he remembers the following:

1) The dollar figures are bogus. There has never been a tax cut in the history of any country that cost anything. They all, by their very nature, result in more revenue.

2) The Dems came from the Gore "lock box" 0 tax relief position to the (again bogus) final 1.3/1.4. Who won?

3) If the market and economy keeps the Breauxs, Landrieus, etc. wetting their pants, there will be a "Tax Cut II" during the election year to cover whatever was missed this year (possibly estate taxes, AMT, capital gains). Any "New Democrat" who stands in it's way is committing political suicide, So any of them that have to run in 2002 or 2004 won't oppose.

All ya' gotta' do is get the White House. Then you play it like the Bush team, and it all falls into place.

Saw David Gergen on "The Unofficial National Idiot" (also known as Hardball) last night, proving once again why neither side will hire him. What an establishment media lap dog!!!
