If the basic goals of the two parties are the same but there is either personal friction or a disagreement about what tactics to use to pursue those goals I can see such a setup working. If the goals are in opposition I am skeptical about the value of the process.

I have a great deal of experience with theological consensus, and some with organizational consensus (from working quite a lot with nonprofit boards including in long range plannig.) Would love to chew over some of the finer aspects with you sometime. Do you ever get out to the Pac NW region?? Or maybe we should start a thread on consensus process?
