I'm not sure I understand why Cisco cannot continue to acquire products and companies. True, Cisco has had its market cap come down 75%, but that same markdown can easily apply to the companies it would acquire, if not more!

A $100B Cisco is much more likely to acquire a $2B Sycamore than a $400B Cisco is likely to acquire a $40B Sycamore.

Not saying that Cisco should or would acquire Sycamore, just saying that Cisco had a market cap of $100B in 1998, and it did an awful lot of acquisitions that year.

I think they just need to see some core market stability and price stability in their share prices, and you'll see Cisco acquire again. We'll see.
