The Midas touch redux

Evy Hambro is a top financial analyst in the UK. In April 2001, Hambro manages the World Mining Fund for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. Hambro is based in London but recently spoke about his strategies in Hong Kong. He noted that the World Mining Fund skyrocketed by 18.5 per cent in 2000. He believes that investors are returning to safe havens like mining. Currently, Hambro likes the London-listed Rio Tinto. This is a giant miner producing several metals. He also likes the South African company called Aquarius Platinum. His fund is weighted with platinum stocks. They make up about one fifth of the portfolio. Hambro noted that it is not possible to find platinum of a low quality.
