The votes were counted....and in Florida, they were counted twice....

Gore didn't have the electoral votes, so he asked for recounts (which he was legally entitled to do).

There are different points of view here: I think once the electoral votes are decided, then that's it. Former VP Gore exercised his LEGAL right for recounts in selected areas of Florida.....I don't see it as something that was good for the country because Gore's initiation of the legal process was in hopes that Gore could gain the Presidency.....Gore started the process in hopes of being President Gore, the country be damned.

Just my opinion.....and I have very few doubts that Gore was only looking out for Gore (and not the United States) when Gore started the recounts.
