Stomper...I agree. That's a hell of a post. The last few sentences say it all.

The enormous negative balance of trade is what made the "service bubble" possible. Once the dollar gets whacked (as the FRB is now clearly determined to do), what will be exported to even up the balance of inflation? Other than more inflated dollars, we have less manufactured output to send. And its long term consequences are horrendous, think of the time it would take (even if it did make economic sense) to rebuild the manufacturing facilities now being mothballed.

It will end badly. VERY badly.
