Dave "Even the analysts can't, or perhaps they don't want to".

"Analyst" A fancy title. Given out like "Manager" at a bank.

The folks you will hear as "Analysts" are sell side. This news is trotted out to instill confidence in the marketplace. How else would you explain the bias in ratings towards "give us your money"?

99% of the population will never hear from a buy side analyst. No mistake about it, these guys make the analysis on this thread look pitiful. I have seen quality analysis, and it is worlds apart from the tripe doled out on CNNFN and WSJ and so on... But you don't get this at e-trade. I guess that's what "discount" means.

The net is pretty good. We have sources of information at our disposal that the best analysts 20 years ago couldn't get from a research staff. But there's being equipped and competent... a difference. Any parent contemplating their infant with a loaded submachine gun would understand this viscerally.

Oh well... the market is a wealth transfer machine. If it weren't for this characteristic, where would our wealth come from? So maybe we should just shut up and be thankful for small minded blessings, huh?

John.
