or it's a political move to restore confidence in the Fed by cutting after an established upmove. proves he can follow trends. he can't restore consumer confidence unless people have confidence in the federal reserve. he's fortunate that next month's fed meeting comes one day before the CPI report which is likely to incorporate the large rise in gas. it's unclear whether the seasonal adjustments for low seasonal gas prices in March may offset the price rise in late March through April and have it show in later reports.
