For the record, the post to which I responded was about how american are sowing the seeds of our own doom by buying foreign-made alarm clocks, cheap watches, jeans & tennis shoes.

uw, HWP : the real total should be around 4700. 1700 in the feb-mar timeframe + 3000 announced a couple days ago.

these are the US tech company announced job cuts so far for this year that i found...

I presume these are the figures for the total job cuts to be made by these US companies, but ... what percentage of the cut jobs will actually be in the US? Certainly some of these companies will achieve the bulk of their cuts by closing foreign plants.

Not to mention the fact that there have been a lot of covert cuts that don't show up in announcements and labor stats because the cuts are to contractors, no small number of which are here on H1Bs, i.e., working in the US, but not US workers.
