Great story S100.

But it leaves out the best part - what is the 700 million dollar investment in Salomon Inc. in 1987 worth today?

Anyone know?

Looking back at the book, I might have been wrong. I'm not quite sure how much selling this quote implies, but he definitely did some selling just ahead of the crash:

On about October 12, Buffett cashed out the stock portfolio of at least one of Berkshire's profit sharing plans. It cleaned the larder of stocks, save for his permanent three. According to a Buffett associate, "It was a clear edict: Sell everything'."
