Frank,

Next week, a faster P4, the re-incarnated 1.13GHz Pentium III, and a demo of Foster? Courtesy Mike Magee:

Re-incarnated 1.13GHz Pentium III floats into view

Roadmap The Coppermink chip chants "Pabst, Pabst" weakly
By Adamson Rust, 19 April 2001 23.19 BST

IT'S Q2, and that means we will see the introduction of the OEM version of the 1.7GHz on the 23rd of April, on which occasion Intel might also make a fanfare about its 1.13GHz Pentium III, which, although not long for this world, is still on the roadmaps until the end of the Q. What a life.

Dealers are rightly wondering why they've been told they can start flogging boxed versions of the 1.7 at the end of the month when OEMs get them a week earlier. The reason for this is that Intel does not love distributors and dealers as much as the other D, Dell.

You will remember that Kyle Bennett of Hard OCP and Tom's Hardware Page did a number on the 1.13GHz Pentium III which Chipzilla rushed out some, and the thing disappeared after getting a richly deserved kicking. But it seems the processor has been convalescing from the grievous bodily harm (GBH) it got, and is now well on the road to a half-life. You could consider this Intel page to be a bit of a fanfare as it mentions the 1.13GHz Pentium III but this could be a mistake - a hangover from last year.

It's certainly not on this very useful Intel page yet, but that's not to say the OEMs haven't got it. Although there hardly seems any point whatever launching it now, does there?

The 1.13GHz Tualatin, which on roadmaps we saw in February is still slated for Q3, although now some say it has been brought forward some, may be a different proposition.

In Q2, of course, we also the Foster microprocessor, don't we? News.com says Intel will also demo that next week.

We must re-visit the late February roadmaps we saw soon, because we have a feeling in our bones that there's another one just about to change the rules again... µ

* Intel confirmed it is on target to introduce the 1.13GHz Pentium III in Q2 today.

See Tom's Hardware Page although you won't hear the clanking.

RE:"My stocks are in the tank. I doubt that someone who is right on roughly 1 out of every 100 predictions (and who shows absolutely no embarrassment about it) will make me feel better about that."

Then, why weren't you going the opposite of NG?

OTOH, I suppose you could trash all the Intel buy and holders who made fun of traders and TA, some who were even long on margin.
