There are no quick fixes, either. I've used this comparison before, that telco debt is about the same size as the S&L mess in the mid-1980s, and that wasn't solved in a week or two. The fact that so many of these companies are now going belly up will actually be a positive starting next year, but it's a real drag right now.

I'm sorry, but an actor's strike in Hollywood shouldn't rank high on the Fed's alert list. And tell me this: Have you ever heard of a strike being settled with a Fed rate cut? Another case of the media helping preserve this aura around Al the All Powerful.
