Paula, I was surprised I had not seen you before on the RGEN board & now understand why. The market often overreacts both ways. I was and am still gloomy as I see a real risk of running into bias - not only is it not a CNS item (conventional thought driven therapy - looking for control vs. dealing with the underlying causes), but the bias is so strong against parental findings. Of course the education elete has the same posture. The teachers union still is trying whatever they can to make home schooling illegal since it makes their positions more an more tenuous. Out pediatrician repetedly blew off my wife when she raised GI tract issues. At 3 1/2 our son was functionally mute and functioning at the 16 month level, severe aggresion & a lot of self injurious behavior. Lifetime vocabulary of 30 words, rare 1-2 woord utterances. Put him on a gluten-free diet (and stopped going to that doc) and in 6 months, he was functionally verbal, 400 word vocab, 5-6 word sentences. Self injurious and agressive behaviour greatly diminished. Most docs would have disparaged dietary interventions and medicated instead. Another doc wanted to perscribe ritalin, despite the fact that it had not been approved as a therapy for anywhere close to this indication, and for nobody younger than 6, and being totally ignorant of the fact that it actually has a negative help/harm ratio. I could go on for awhile, but REGN will probably have to overcome a lot of pre-suppositional thinking on the part of the drug establishment. Scott (who does not drug his son for short term convenience)
