I would personally never dare to presume what for example SHOULD be going on in another country I did not have first hand experience (i.e. growing up in) telling them how they should live. Telling young girls they must be free in indonesia NOT to work in Nike factories in the middle of the night so they can choose to work as prostitutes once more for their families. Better to be VD than PC, or at least so say the young idealists, knowing far better from distant overpriveledged countries what's best for those others who really did have minds of their own for their own frequently misinterpreted (or should they have been at all?) lives and ways of life. It must be one more form of deforestation. I mean, just because they need often (as everyone does) to belong to a single minded thought- still is it possible to come up with a real consensus? A real one, I have this nagging optimism, will be incorporated with "the enemy" as much as possible, if non violence is kept. Feelings of being martyrs is destructive and bogs down understanding. Granted, the people in question in power, must be dealt with with patience, and no, one side can't have everything. A compromise must be reached.
