kdavy, congratulations and thank you very much for sharing your method. I admire the discipline you are able to keep and saved your post in case I can learn from it. Cutting losses early would certainly have saved me money in the past. One trader on another thread has a sign above his computer saying "I can always buy it back". Do you use Dorsey Wright for your PnF charts?

Gottfried

started in 1992 and learned about trading options in 1994. Started with about $10,000 and by 1996 (downturn) had lost all my money was in credit card debt of about $40,000. Worst time of my life

Damn Dude, you sound like my story. I didn't use options but used margin heavily. And also did that credit card loan thang. Man, were we stoopid or what?

Everyone PLEASE use stop losses

kdavy,
I have used stop losses at times and it seems to me that I always would get stopped out before the stock moved. 5% on a 50 dollar stock is 2 1/2 points. I dont think i ever have bought a $50 stock that didnt move 2.5 points lower, usually withing an hour of my purchase. But i do believe you--I guess the 1500 trades is what makes it work. Do you have a day job or is the market your livelihood? Mike-PS Thanks for the nice words and continued good fortune for you.

Nothing personal, but that's a horrible way to spend one's life. The stress, the anxiety. Good luck.
