"The strange thing is that on Intel's price list 1.4 GHz is listed for $195 as well."

This isn't so strange. Historically, AMD as well as Intel has engaged in the practice of discontinuing a low speed bin by allowing the price of the next higher speed bin to match it. All this move says is that Intel wants to phase out the 1.3 GHz, replacing it with a 1.4 GHz.

Personally, I think that AMD's best response is to list both the 1.3 GHz and 1.33 GHz at the same price as Intel's 1.3 and 1.4 GHz, without introducing the 1.4 GHz. AMD should wait until Intel introduces a 2.0 GHz P4, and introduce a 1.467 GHz TBird in response. The 1.4 GHz would be introduced at the same time as product line backfill.

Not strange if 1.3GHz is being phased out.
