My co-op will actually reduce rates with deregulation as we are free to buy from the lowest bidder. We have also started the next step of buying a coal field and building our own plant on it. Bought my natural gas from the co-op and paid 29 cents per therm all last year.

I see where Farm Services is putting in an 80% ethanol pump. It runs 40 cents a gallon cheaper than gas now and shouldn't go up much.

Where i live in CA my power comes from the LA Dept of water and power they did not deregulate and my cost is not be affected. The Dept of Water and Power has enough surplus power to sell to other providers.

Jay we have 34 million people in CA so our problems start with our size and the reality that very little was done in long range planning to accommodate projected growth.

We lack adequate public transit in the LA area so we continue to sprawl all over the place the total cost in terms of energy used here is high.

The difficulties California faces right now are huge the cost of living is high so you have to adjust wages to those costs which means more inflation. You have companies trying to lower costs and people requiring higher wages to live.

In my opinion California has too many problems presently. I would not consider opening up any kind of business within the LA area now. It is too costly in all directions. If I looked at the energy source that would limit me to a certain area and the DWP. The cost of the property in the area could outshine any benefit of the secure electric source.

You are looking at a city of finance and studios trying to hold their own in the dark? Entertainment parks that will find the cost of operation increases hotels tourists ag industry etc This is one huge mess that spells out inflation and cries out cost containment at the same time .

The conclusion of this seems only to be the economy must slow down either by black out or the fact that it is already overly high priced area to build in. So where is conducive for profit and growth?

If ever a blunder was made to haunt it will be the one that took place here.
