OT

Are you sitting down?

I agree!

I actually once suggested we let pharmacy and business students at Universities manufacture and distribute the drugs so the profits could help pay for their education.

We'll have PLENTY of money for education and treatment centers as we would have empty prisons all across the country and salaries not spent on guards and probation officers. I think the money going into this is similar to the "Military Industrial Complex" of the 1960's. Problem is it is BIG BUSINESS to "protect us" and the source of bribes would vanish if the industry vanished.

Side benefits: The court system would open up so we could try "real crimes".

Oh well.... we can keep sending in our letters to our reps & senators and hope they vote our way.

I have never used drugs and I have never smoked. I drink little alcohol

I hate to tell you this but alcohol IS A DRUG. But I know what you mean.

The "War on Drugs" should be an economic one

No way. Drugs and addiction is a HEALTH problem. Period. Also, it's a non-violent crime, but we rather let rapist and child-molestor out of jail so we can lock up pot-heads. Amazing.

There used to be a WOD thread, but it looks like SI removed, hmmmmm.
