From Prudential's morning note: "Margin debt is down for March by 11% in just one month which is a huge drop but also says alot of the speculation is now out of the market. The issue of telco debt is now well understood. the Nortel CEO said that there is $655bn of telco debt out there , up from $326bn in 1999.Even at a 5% rate that's $30bn in annual payments. Winstar's recent bankruptcy due to its inability to make a payment was a wake-up call for many companies."
