Thanks to Larry for this: baby bells - big article in todays NYT business section, about the coming predominance of the baby bells: VZ, SBC, BLS, and Q. they control the local biz, the clec are going to be acquired for pennies, the baby bells are getting long distance approval and will gain market share. their incremental cost for LD service is small and any revenue is immediately accretive.
the baby bells will likely acquire MCIC part of WCOM and also FON soon, possible ATT's LD service.
these are not trading ideas but LTBH with dividend yield and safety, and good appreciation potential. most baby bells at the current time are trading at or near 12 month lows
