Not only is this technology a good ten years away from being practical, CIEN and JDSU are not interested in the transmission part of the business but mostly in the "end part" and interfaces with electronic communications. I doubt they will suffer from that little marvel, and surely not before other optical start ups give them troubles in their own fields, IMHO. I for one, believe that the Omniguide technology will not get into major telecommunication systems for the simple reason that the transmission medium (air) cannot be kept "absolutely" constant.
