Yada yada yada Discussion still rolls on across the country about how California got so screwed up. Zuespaul has commented several times about an ?Ferc order in 96 stopping regulated utilities from building.

Five years is a long time thinking simple cycle gas turbines can be operational within a year given the green light. Simple cycle 150 MW gas fired units.

How many will be ready this Summer? The alarm bells where screaming last Spring were they not?

Okay Next Summer, how many new plants will be online , since the disaster has reared its ugly head?

There are dozens of new turbines looking for homes that where bought on speculation. Some investors are taking very big risks in buying turbines & equipment with no sites, sales contracts, etc. This equipment has 1 1/2-3 year lead times. Where do you think these turbines will go?

To environments looking for price controls where they may not get paid. i.e, California QF facilities.

Of course CA could wait and see if these turbine speculators will get desperate and settle for low returns to build a plant in CA. But I doubt they will have a hard time as every day there is a new announcement of a new plant being built (Not in CA or NY).
