Sunday April 22, 6:00 pm Eastern Time Press Release SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation Compaq AlphaServer ES40 Maximizes Information Investment for SAP Users; Establishes New Level in SAP BW Benchmark HOUSTON, April 22 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) announced today that its AlphaServer(TM) ES40 system has established a new performance record for mid-range servers in SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW), a component of mySAP(TM) Business Intelligence (mySAP BI), Version 2.0 B benchmark. Fully integrated with mySAP Marketplace and mySAP Workplace, SAP BW enables companies to maximize the return on their information investment by putting business intelligence to work. An AlphaServer ES40 system with four 833 MHz Alpha processors using 8MB of memory and L2 cache, running Tru64(TM) UNIX and Oracle 8i (release 8.1.6) database software delivered an average throughput of 25 million rows per hour for the load phase, more than 108 million rows per hour for the realignment step, and more than 46,000 query navigation steps per hour. The ES40 server was supported by a Compaq StorageWorks subsystem with 1.3 TB of disk space. In December 2000, a 32-processor AlphaServer GS 320 system running Tru64 UNIX with 32GB of memory and connected to a StorageWorks subsystem with 1.3 TB of disk space established new standards in the load phase (114 million rows/hour), the realignment phase (313 million rows/hour) and in the query phase (207,323 query navigation steps/hour).
