I have been all through SE Texas for most of my life, from the big thicket all the way up to the northern end of the piney woods. Since plant life, and animal life, is thriving in these areas, there is a clear indication that there is not toxic waste, or pollution related to the oil industry. The only problem you might have in the big thicket are the bands of angry, wild, boars that trash camp sites.
