I hope Intel addresses the fp unit of the P4 sometime in the not too distant future - or maybe the way to go will be Itanium, for these very specific apps, where you could tune compilers fairly easily. Scumbria seems to believe that a viable alternative is clustering low-cost embedded MIPS processors.

You are on the right track! Why bother with CAS, CI, or QCI if you can do CCSD(T)!
