The same could have been said about the Brittish. The Japenese are an incredibly industrious people, whom I would take any day over Fat, lazy overindulged European's. The Japenese are not perfect but during the MEJA period they did in 40 years what It took europeans and Americans a few centuries to do. The Japenese need to straighten some stuff out, as we did in the 70's and early 80's but dont fool yourself into believing they are has been's.

It is very simple. Huge saving rate, very little consumer debt, small consumption rate and highly educated workforce.

In other words, they live within their means.
